Luisa Weyers studied law at Maastricht University, Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg, and Trinity College Dublin. Since graduating with a first degree in law (Erstes Juristisches Staatsexamen) from FAU in 2022, she has worked as a research associate (Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin) at FAU , first with Anuscheh Farahat and Markus Krajewski, and since April 2025 with Eva Pils (Humboldt Professorship for Human Rights Law), while pursuing a PhD under the supervision of Markus Krajewski. In April 2024 she was awarded a scholarship to fund her doctoral studies by the Heinrich Böll Foundation.

In her doctoral dissertation, Luisa deals with human rights regulations in the area of gender-based violence, examining the legal implications of the European, Inter-American, African and UN human rights systems.

In 2023, Luisa’s work was awarded the Magarete Berent Prize by the FAU Faculty of Law and Economics.

Luisa has been the recipient of visiting studentship and fellowship positions while working on her doctoral dissertation, including short research stays with Professor Anna-Katharina Mangold at Flensburg University and with Professor Elisabeth Greif at Linz University. From May to June 2025, she will be a Recognised Student hosted by Professor Başak Çalı at the Oxford University Bonavera Institute.
