The Chair in Human Rights Law at FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg was created in August 2024 with generous funding by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. It is currently held by Eva Pils. We are in the process of establishing a team of researchers.

Research carried out by members of the team will address a broad range of issues and regions, connected by a joint interest in the global and local impacts of autocratisation on law, the defence of human rights and democracy, legal and political advocacy, and resistance.

This joint interest and a commitment to interdisciplinarity also informs our teaching within the Law School and in the context of the FAU M.A. in Human Rights Programme, which is run by the FAU Centre for Human Rights Erlangen-Nuremberg (CHREN).
